Welcome to the website of the Student Affairs Council (SAC). Through this website, we hope to introduce you to the functioning and structure of SAC, which contrary to popular opinion is NOT the Student Activity Centre. We also hope to provide you with a platform to take part directly in the decision making process of the institute.
The Student Affairs Council (SAC) is the highest student body of the institute. It is comprised of both students and faculty members. The functions of SAC include policy formulation, and co-ordination and review of all student related affairs. SAC meetings serve as the forum through which any issue that may be of collective student concern, e.g. academic affairs and student discipline, can be voiced, discussed and at times even implemented.
The Student Affairs Council has the various boards of IIT as well as other committees as its constituent bodies. Students are represented at SAC by elected representatives, namely, the various House Secretaries, General Secretaries, SAC representatives of each hostel etc. The Director, IIT Delhi serves as the Chairman of the Council. Other faculty members include the Deputy Directors, the Dean of Students, the Dean (U.G.S.), the Dean (P.G.S. & R), the Presidents of the various Boards etc.
